Tokyo Laundry raises thousands for charity
(PRWEB UK) 17 April 2014 -- The team at online clothing retailer Tokyo Laundry are currently gearing up for this year's Bupa Great Manchester Run, having already raised thousands of pounds for charity.
Tokyo Laundry moved to new premises earlier in the year, and to mark the big occasion all staff were given free membership of a nearby gym. Since then, they've been working hard in preparation for competing in the Bupa Great Manchester Run. This year's event will take place on May 18th, with thousands of runners expected to take to the streets of Manchester.
"The Tokyo Laundry team have already raised £15,000 and we’re confident that we can raise even more over the next few weeks leading up to the run," said Sachin Passi, E Commerce Director at Tokyo Laundry. "We've managed to get people from all our departments involved in the event, including the board of directors - and they've chosen a whole host of great causes, so everyone's looking forward to the big day."
Among the charities supported by the Tokyo Laundry team - all chosen by members of the team themselves - are Cancer Research UK, NSPCC, Christie's Hospital, the British Heart Foundation, Macmillan and the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
Toby Tiger, the Tokyo Laundry mascot, will also be competing in the Great Manchester Run and is sure to cut perhaps the most conspicuous figure among the Tokyo Laundry contingent on May 18th.
First held in 2003, the Bupa Great Manchester Run has grown in popularity to become Europe's biggest 10k event. More than a quarter of a million people have taken part in the run over the last decade, with an estimated £22 million raised for a wide range of charitable causes. More than £1 million has been raised by runners for Manchester's Christie's Hospital alone.
