Top DC Chefs Dish Up to Empower Rural India
Washington, DC (PRWEB) September 19, 2017 -- World-renowned chefs and tastemakers of the Spanish, Indian and American community’s will come together for the Vicente Ferrer Foundation USA (VFF USA) “Recipe for Empowerment" on October 6th, 2017. With a focus on food, the event will feature dishes conceived and presented by top Indian, Spanish and American chefs from the D.C. metro area, to symbolize the intertwined global mission of VFF.
The event emcee, Amita Shukla will highlight unique entrepreneurship opportunities that add scale and impact to development efforts, and the keynote speaker Merin Rajadurai, Chairman, Secretary of State Open Forum at U.S. State Department will showcase opportunities for businesses in India and the U.S. to empower women through the Global Entrepreneurship Summit and support VFF USA.
For millions living in poverty in rural India, change is the path to sustainable progress. VFF USA partners with local communities in India on sustainable solutions for education, women’s development, access to healthcare, rural infrastructure, and sustainable farming with a “recipe” that includes tools, organizational capacity, and funds. Moncho Ferrer, President of VFF USA says, “Bringing together such a passionate group of chefs, community members, celebrities, and international dignitaries is such an honor for our organization. Last year all funds raised were immediately sent to support women to learn new job skills, and this year I look forward to doing so much more.”
The primary mission of VFF USA is to partner with communities in rural India to develop unique trade experiences, rural development initiatives and support community collaborations for vulnerable populations like women and people with disabilities. The community’s impacted by the organization are not simply recipients of aid but partners of change.
VFF USA would like to thank the incredible generosity of our sponsors, Hard Rock Heal's Foundation, Grapes of Spain, Issac Fernandez Selection, La Caixa, the Embassy of Spain, Williams-Humbert, and Biscayne Bay Brewing Company. The foodie event will unite and delight people while empowering rural villages. Angelina Klouthis, Executive Director of VFF USA says, “Bringing together such a passionate group of chefs is an honor for our organization, through their generosity we are able to invest all sponsorship funds in empowering rural India.”
