Costa Mesa, CA (PRWEB) June 04, 2015 -- Vanguard University’s student worship team debuted their first original worship album, Made New, breaking into the top 25 on iTunes Christian/Gospel charts in its first weekend of release. The entire album contains music and lyrics by Vanguard’s worship team students, From the Vine Music, marking a special season at the Southern California University.
The project began in the summer of 2014, with associate director of chapel and discipleship, Bryan Rouanzoin `07, “I believe that it is at the core of all worship teams to create songs for people and reflect the journey of their own communities.” Rouanzoin led the album project, and leads vocals on the final song “Kingdom Come.”
Songwriting sessions for the worship team began in fall 2014, when classes began at Vanguard, and within the first hour, the team felt synergy. “’God with us’ is our experience of that songwriting time together and this growing awareness that God is always speaking if only we slow down and quiet ourselves long enough to hear,” Rouanzoin said.
Many of the songs on the album were inspired by conversations, experiences and events that occurred on the Orange County campus, a reflection of the student community at Vanguard.
Made New was produced and arranged by Jerad Atherton ’04, a Vanguard University alumnus and current worship pastor at Newport Mesa Church in Costa Mesa, California. Josh Auer produced vocals and mixed the album; Vanguard students May Angeles `15, Brady Backstrom `16, Debrianna Cabitac `17, Aly Cavness `17, Tyler Cockrum `17, Kaciny Emile `16, Natalie Garcia `15, Christian Lucas `15, and Alora Slakey `15 were the singers and songwriters for Made New.
The album’s solid 5-star reviews on iTunes are holding strong amongst listeners and fans.
