Top Things Homeowners Are Thankful They Included in a Sunroom: Tip Sheet from Chris Noe, President of Venetian Builders, Inc., Miami
Miami, FL (PRWEB) November 21, 2013 -- The things homeowners are thankful to have in a sunroom aren’t always the obvious, says Chris Noe, president of Venetian Builders, Inc., Miami.
Venetian designs and installs aluminum sunroom additions, patio enclosures, patio roofs and swimming pool screen enclosures in West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, the Keys and all other South Florida communities.
“At Thanksgiving, Americans think about the things that make them most grateful – family, friends, good health, freedom and, these days, a steady job,” Noe said. “We’re always touched to know that many of them are gathering for the holiday in spaces we built for them.”
Noe said he can’t help but reflect too on the things his customers say they’re most grateful to have in the solariums that Venetian builds for them.
“The things homeowners talk about aren’t always the biggest items on the design list,” Noe said. “Their thoughts present a good primer on how to plan for new living space of your own.”
Here are the top things Florida room customers tell Noe they’re grateful to have:
Adequate space. “You know how your family lives,” Noe said. “Plan for sunroom size by considering not just how you’ll use your new space, but also by calculating how much space it will free up in your existing home.”
Enough outlets. “Talk about simple but easy to overlook,” Noe said. “Game consoles, big-screen TVs, computers, printers, digital projectors, phone chargers – they all need a place to plug in. Additional outlets look a lot better than extension cords, and they’re much safer.”
Media cabling. “Sure, you can use WiFi and wireless connections,” Noe said. “But wired connections are faster and more reliable. And having cable for your TV installed from the get-go lets you put the big screen right where you want it, including mounted from the ceiling.”
The right light. “A sunroom works well as a home office, a reading room or a media center,” Noe said. “But your windows will vary by use – smaller for the home office or media center, bigger for a reading space. On a heavily shaded lot, giant skylights can flood the room with light. Make sure they’re code compliant. To get the right light, communicate your plans for the space before it’s designed.”
Window shape and style. “Complementary shape and style of windows can make your sunroom appear part of the house, not an appendage,” Noe said. “The shape of windows and number of panes tie it all together.”
Shape and materials. “This is another key to making the new and old look like one,” Noe said. “Homeowners love it when visitors say they thought everything was original because the solarium’s shape and roof covering match those on the house.”
Climate control. “Making your room comfortable year-round isn’t as simple as just adding air conditioning and heat,” Noe said. “You want a split system that’s quiet, energy efficient and strong enough to get the job done, especially with a cathedral or vaulted ceiling. Ceiling fans also help.”
Venetian Builders custom designs every sun room, patio cover and swimming pool screen enclosure it installs.
