Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) January 29, 2014 -- Golf entertainment leader TopGolf International, Inc. today officially unveiled Gilbert as its second Phoenix-area location, just six months shy of the company’s grand opening in Scottsdale near Talking Stick Resort. TopGolf® will begin construction on the 65,000-square-foot facility in the first quarter of 2014; the site is expected to open to the public in early 2015.
TopGolf Gilbert will be located at 1689 SanTan Village Parkway at the southeast corner of SanTan Village Parkway and Ray Road, next to the SanTan Village shopping center. Gilbert is TopGolf’s 17th announced location, following Oklahoma City, San Antonio and Tampa.
TopGolf is the only entertainment center of its kind, offering competitive golfing games for all ages and skill levels and advanced technology to track every player’s shots. Those who just want to relax can enjoy the upscale, laid-back ambiance that boasts more than 230 high-definition flat-screen TVs and an extensive food and beverage menu.
“Greater Phoenix offers an ideal climate, a booming economy and a large community of golfers,” said TopGolf Chief Development Officer Randy Starr. “Gilbert was an obvious target community for us, given the vibrancy of the local Gilbert economy, fantastic demographics, and the City’s great reputation for being supportive of quality impact development projects. Expanding to Arizona has been a long-term goal for TopGolf, and we’re thrilled that we will soon be able to offer residents in both Scottsdale and Gilbert another entertainment attraction.”
The new three-level location – constructed by ARCO/Murray – will include up to 2,900 square feet of private event space and 102 climate-controlled hitting bays that can host up to six players at one time. Starr estimates that TopGolf Gilbert will serve approximately 450,000 visitors in its first year of operation. Nearly half of all TopGolf guests describe themselves as “non-golfers.”
“We are thrilled with the announcement that TopGolf will open its second Phoenix-area location in our community,” said Gilbert Mayor John Lewis. “Serving residents of Gilbert and the East Valley, this new entertainment venue will offer enjoyment for all ages as well as have a positive economic impact to our community. Since all levels of golfers are welcome, from beginners to professionals, I am anxious to become a frequent visitor when the facility opens next year.”
Founded in 2000, TopGolf welcomed its 10 millionth visitor in history in November. The company has introduced more people to the game of golf than any other concept. TopGolf’s economic impact in its local communities is also remarkable, creating hundreds of jobs at each location and serving as an anchor tenant that tends to attract other popular franchises to the area. In fact, its economic output in the Phoenix area is now expected to exceed $529 million over a 10-year-period, according to a third-party audit.
