Toronto Film School Launches Two New Video Game Design Programs
Toronto, ON (PRWEB) February 20, 2014 -- Toronto Film School is launching two new programs: Video Game Design & Animation and Video Game Design & Development. Both programs are offered at the Steeles Campus and can be completed within 18 months.
Toronto Film School programs are designed in sync with industry demands and offer hands-on training with a unique blend of creative and technical courses. Graduates set out with a well-rounded skill set for a prosperous career in the video game industry and in other related fields of audio engineering, film production, digital graphics, and entertainment.
Across Canada, the percentage of video game companies hiring (or intending to hire) new graduates has increased from 60% in 2011 to 77% in 2013. In addition, the video game industry has generated over $2.3 billion in gross domestic product for the Canadian economy in 2012 (“Canada’s Video Game Industry in 2013.” Entertainment Software Association of Canada, Nordicity, July 2013). Toronto Film School’s diploma programs in video game design address the increasing demand for video game designers, who play key roles in projects from conception to production.
“There has never been a better time to turn a life-long passion of video games in to a dream job,” says Jean-Paul Amore, Chair of the two Video Game Design programs at Toronto Film School. “Developing games is a field that requires passionate, creative and technical individuals to come together as a team,” explains Amore. “It is a team sport that requires training and perseverance. Nothing is better than the victory of having a game published.”
Conveniently located in Toronto, students of Toronto Film School will have the opportunity to be where the action is. With most of Canada’s active video game firms (29.5%) clustered in Ontario, Toronto has earned an international reputation as a hotbed of innovation and creativity with plenty to provide for students in terms of inspiration, networking and job opportunities.
Toronto Film School is now accepting applications for Video Game Design & Development and Video Game Design & Animation. Toronto Film School is a subsidiary of Yorkville Education Company.
