Touch International Expands Dual-Mode Sunlight Readable and NVIS LCD Capabilities
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) April 09, 2015 -- Touch International (TI), a leading custom touch screen and enhanced display design and manufacturing company, today announced advances in the company’s display enhancement program to include the design, development, and manufacturing of custom dual-mode sunlight-readable plus night vision (SR+NVIS) liquid crystal displays (LCDs) up to 19 inches. The customized displays allow excellent readability even in direct sunlight, while also providing a secondary mode MIL-STD-3009 compliant NVIS operation.
TI’s LED backlight technology is designed to maximize optical efficiency and minimize power consumption. The company’s custom LED driver boards provide extensive (10,000:1) dimming capability for the super-bright LEDs and the night vision (NVIS) LEDs with precision constant current control to maximize the life of the LEDs. TI’s dual-mode SR+NVIS enhanced display product line have the widest extended operating temperature range (-30 C to +85 C) available in the LCD industry.
High Bright displays are designed to operate in high ambient light conditions including direct and indirect sunlight. TI’s custom LED drivers feature the same full dimming capabilities for brightness control, power savings, and improved thermal management. High bright LCDs can be used in a broad range of applications that require sunlight readability such as field operations, industrial, military, safety & rescue, and marine applications.
NVIS displays are designed to be readable at night to the unaided eye, while at the same time highly difficult to detect from a distance while in use. NVIS displays are a critical component for military, avionics, and some specialized industrial applications. All TI’s NVIS LCD’s meet or exceed MIL-STD-3009 compliance for Type 1 (Direct View Image) Class B NVIS requirements. All TI’s NVIS components are designed and produced in the U.S.A. using military grade components.
“This is a breakthrough for the company and a next step forward in LCD enhancement. Some displays require custom light guides and bezels in addition to the dual-mode LED backlight retrofitting and passive enhancements,” says Shaun Detmer, Director of Marketing. “In 2015 we will continue to put a lot of focus on our display enhancement program and expanding in-house design and manufacturing portfolio.”
TI’s customized LCDs are designed and developed at its Engineering and Design center located in Austin, TX. Displays can be produced and support by the company’s ITAR Compliant engineering facility in Austin, TX or the high-volume production center in Shenzhen, China depending on customer needs and industry requirements.
