Towards Universal Energy Access: Tanzania; Sustainable Energy for All stakeholder consultation
Washington D.C. (PRWEB) February 06, 2015 -- As part of the United Nations Sustainable Energy For All initiative, the United Nations Foundation (UNF) together with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) will gather more than 100 private sector and NGO and community leaders and innovators in Tanzania, February 10-11, in a consultation with the government of Tanzania to explore key policy frameworks, market accelerators and innovations needed to support achievement the three goals of the Sustainable Energy for All initiative in Tanzania by 2030. The event will focus primarily on access to energy. According to the International Energy Agency, 38.2 million people, some 85% of the population of Tanzania, currently lack access to electricity, and the development benefits it brings in health, education, income generation, gender and the environment.
