Littleton, NH (PRWEB) July 15, 2016 -- The town of Littleton is holding an event that will surely be unique to the White Mountains region. The event will showcase local artists’ new and original music pieces and will take place on July 17 at 7pm in the historic Littleton Opera House. The event will include of a 22 piece orchestra, made up of local talent, as well as four composers from the region; Robert Owen Williams, Alan Glasser, Joseph Hansalik and Ben Salomon.
The event will start with three compositions at the Littleton Opera House and will finish with a processional piece in which the composer, Ben Salomon, and the full orchestra walk down Main Street in Littleton while playing. The piece will end at Harmony Park, a recently installed interactive music park overlooking the Ammonoosuc River, where artists will utilize the park instruments to join the composition.
The event is an extension of the cultural influence the community has experienced over the past few years. Littleton now represents a cultural hub to many local artists and even those from around the Eastern coast. The inspiration and cultural growth in this town has sprouted from local artists like Jason Tors, who has transformed an industrial space and created a sanctuary for artists and those experimenting with the arts. The Loading Dock in downtown Littleton is an open concept space where artists come to practice and perform as well as hosting open mic nights and art classes for the community. Tors stated “Littleton has become a destination for touring artists. We want to encourage local artists to come out and share their talent with the community, and that’s what The Loading Dock allows us to do.”
Another destination in Littleton for artists is Northern Lights Music, family owned and operated by the Salomon family who have been in the industry for almost 40 years. The company has a strong presence in the downtown area, bringing the region's largest selection of high quality instruments as well as expertise to the music industry and inspiration for others to pick up an instrument. One of the top ten Taylor guitar retailers in the country, Northern Lights is a destination for musicians from across the northeast.
The four composers who will be featured in this unique event are from the Littleton region and participate in the community as teachers or educators in some form within the arts and music industry. Robert Owen Williams’ work has consisted of concert/band genres, while Joseph Hansalik has scored short films. Alan Glasser brings a jazz band style of music to the table while Ben Salomon focuses on conceptual art. The four composers along with the orchestra are sure to bring exquisite sounds to Littleton’s Main Street on July 17.
