Town of Southington, Conn., Launches New E-Recording System with Simplifile
SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (PRWEB) November 07, 2013 -- Electronic recording (e-recording) of documents is now available in the Town of Southington, Conn., enabling customers to more quickly and cost-effectively have land records digitally recorded with the clerk’s office online through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service provider.
“One of the goals of the town this year was to move forward in offering a virtual town hall for our residents, making it easier for people to do business with the town 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Southington Town Clerk Leslie Cotton. “We have upgraded our computer hardware, instituted the ability to use credit cards for purchases and have launched a new upgraded website.”
In alignment with this goal, the town’s customers are now able to submit documents essentially any time, from anywhere; all they need is Internet access and a scanner to log in to Simplifile’s online service, upload or prepare their documents electronically, and submit them to the town clerk’s office for recording.
Instead of submitters sending documents by mail, runner, or courier service,e-recording offers a faster, more convenient option, while saving both the town and its customers’ money on things like postage, paper, and fuel.
“Having the ability to record documents digitally will make it easier for recorders,” Cotton added. “As the volume of e-recordings increases, the streamlined procedures will make it quicker and easier for staff to process the work, and it will be more cost effective for the town.”
With Simplifile’s service, the clerk’s office is able to automate document reception and return and avoid scanning, stamping, and return mailings.
“We are very pleased with the service we have received from Simplifile at this point. They have made the launch of our new e-recording system very easy,” Cotton said.
With Simplifile, payments for recording fees are also processed electronically via Automated Clearing House (ACH).
With the addition of e-recording in the Town of Southington, Connecticut now has eight towns statewide that have adopted Simplifile’s service, joining hundreds of other recording jurisdictions e-recording across the nation.
