TraceLink Files Patent Reexamination Petition on Unisone Patent with United States Patent and Trademark Office
Wakefield, MA (PRWEB) November 13, 2013 -- TraceLink Inc., the leader in global pharmaceutical track and trace and supply network towers, announced today that it has filed a reexamination petition with the United States Patent and Trademark Office relating to patent 6996538 owned by Unisone Strategic IP, Inc., a financial stakeholder in Frequentz, LLC.
On July 25, 2013, Unisone filed a complaint (case # ‘13CV1743 JAH WVG, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California) alleging TraceLink is in violation of a patent held by Unisone concerning inventory control. This was the second lawsuit filed in 2013 by Unisone (see Unisone Strategic IP, Inc. v. Life Technologies Corporation et al. case # ‘13CV1278 GPC JMA, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California) that according to court documents alleged infringement of a 2006 patent Unisone was granted on inventory control systems.
TraceLink filed a 665 page patent reexamination petition of the ‘538 patent on November 4, 2013 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (see USPTO Application Number 09799879). TraceLink has asked industry participants and software technology providers to submit additional prior art.
