Tradesmen’s Valentine Views Revealed by Trade Direct Insurance
(PRWEB UK) 11 February 2016 -- Trade Direct Insurance has surveyed tradesmen up and down the country to uncover just how romantic they really are. Starting with the highs and lows of love and romance, romantic proposals, and keeping the passion alive, the results are in.
Starting with teenage sweet-hearts, when asked how they met their first partner:
- 30% introduced by a mate
- 16% childhood sweet-hearts
- 17% cutting some shapes on a nightclub dancefloor
- 11% met at work
- 3% blind dates
Moving on to heartbreak, whilst a lucky 12% of tradesmen have never been dumped, for the rest, over 50% were dumped face to face, 4 tradesmen were dumped by text message and one very unlucky guy was told via a motorway banner.
After love and romance, thoughts turned to marriage where our tradesmen’s romantic sides were really uncovered. One very romantic individual went all out, proposing with a plane banner, whilst 35% proposed on one knee and 24% popped the question over a candlelit dinner. Talking of uncovered, 9% did admit to proposing in bed.
When asked about the perfect romantic gesture they’d like to receive:
- Over half would welcome a weekend away.
- 15% would like a meal out
- 10% would like tickets to an event
- 8% would like to drive a very fast car around a race track
- 2% would like a meal in

Trade Direct Insurance customers are a bunch of romantics at heart, even if 9% of them said they’d proposed in bed. We hope the survey helps to lift the lid on our tradesmen and bring perceptions up to date – with not a wolf whistle in sight. From young love to proposals, being dumped to perfect dates – our tradesmen are more cuddly bears than big grizzlies.”
