New York, NY (PRWEB) May 11, 2016 -- NYC-based Resource Furniture is proud to announce a major donation of complete home furnishings for eight studio apartments designated for homeless veterans in Monadnock Development’s new Carmel Place micro-apartment building. Located at 335 East 27th St. in Kips Bay, the nine-story development, designed by Brooklyn based nARCHITECTS, is comprised of 55 units, 40% of which are set aside for affordable housing, with eight apartments designated for Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH).
The eight veterans’ apartments, each ranging from 276 to 355 square feet, will be custom furnished by Resource Furniture with beautifully designed, high quality, European-made furnishings, including a Penelope Sofa wall bed, designed and made in Italy by Clei. Dual-function Penelope Sofa features a comfortable, five-foot sofa with a hidden queen wall bed that seamlessly opens with one hand. Additional furnishings will include a coffee table that converts into a work table and dining table; dining chairs; and additional seating and furnishings. The combination of smartly-designed, multifunctional pieces in each apartment maximize every square foot and will allow these small spaces to function like a home twice the size.

In April, 2016 New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the official creation of the New York City Department of Veterans' Services, which will expand the city’s role in serving the needs of its 225,000 veterans.

In addition to the fully-furnished apartments, an all-inclusive living experience, Ollie™, is being provided at no cost to the veterans. All veterans will receive weekly housekeeping and a visit from a Hello Alfred personal butler (performing tasks such as making the bed, re-stocking groceries, doing the dishes, etc.), hi-speed Wi-Fi and standard cable, among other amenities.
