Travel and Leisure Magazine Places Mirror Lake Inn in the Lake Placid Adirondack Region among World’s 500 Best Hotels
Lake Placid, NY (PRWEB) January 22, 2015 -- The latest issue of Travel + Leisure Magazine has included Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa in Lake Placid in its list of their 500 best hotels worldwide.
In a breakdown by state, the lakeshore resort overlooking Mirror Lake was seventh best in all of New York State. It graded ahead of such landmarks as the Mandarin Oriental in Manhattan, Peninsula New York, Ritz-Carlton Battery Park, Hotel Elysee Midtown East and the Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing.
It’s the only property in Lake Placid and the Northern Adirondacks to appear on the list.
“If one is known by the company they keep, then this latest accolade says a lot about the Mirror Lake Inn and our employees,” said resort owner Ed Weibrecht. “Travelers know what Travel + Leisure Magazine represents. It’s the best of the best. In that same way, we consider our hotel staff among the best in the hospitality business. The level of service they provide makes honors like this possible.”
Mirror Lake Inn ownership has continually reinvested in its 131 lodging units over the years. Along with service, it is another reason for the continuing strong ratings from luxury travel publications.
In its most recent renovation initiative, the inn’s ownership targeted 106 rooms in 2014. At this time, over 90 percent of those rooms have been completed.
In its Mountain View building, the exterior walls of the Classic Rooms are now almost exclusively glass (wall to wall and floor to ceiling) with French style, sliding doors that can be opened to the outside, thus offering plenty of fresh mountain air and a “balcony feel”.
The square footage of these rooms has increased 20 percent.
These rooms have been outfitted with recessed lights for reading over each bed and additional outlets to accommodate today’s connected traveler. The rooms are situated for both families and couples. Most offer increased panoramic views of the lake and mountains.
All of these major upgrades have occurred while the resort maintains its streak of 30 consecutive years of Four Diamond exceptional rating from AAA.
“You thought of everything. The best hotel experience ever. We feel like a guest in a friend’s home rather than being in a hotel.” – M.M., Manhattan Beach, Calif.
“Enjoyed the balcony-turned-sitting-room. Nice that one could be up early and read without disturbing the other.” – H.W., Albany, N.Y.
“The inn is beautiful. Your entire staff was friendly. What a view from this room! Our meals at The View were outstanding. We enjoyed the huge, delicious breakfast. We are looking forward to returning.” – B.T., Lockport, N.Y.
The hotel’s attention to detail and aggressive approach in upkeep positions it perfectly for the winter season which will continue into April in the Lake Placid Adirondack Olympic region.
The Mirror Lake Inn is partnering with nearby Whiteface Mountain in helping new and novice skiers master the mountain via the trademarked Parallel From The Start program.
Using shorter skis and teaching concepts that incorporate familiar movements, Whiteface Mountain’s ski school will get patrons to the top of Little Whiteface Mountain in a matter of days. The three-day instructional program costs $169 and includes a lift ticket, equipment and lessons ($129 for one day).
Also, the hotel offers a four-for-three package, in which guests staying for three nights get the fourth night’s lodging and lift tickets free.
When guests’ days are complete, they can return for the inn’s complimentary tea and house-made chocolate chip cookies in the living room; or have a drink at The Cottage Café, the Adirondack’s preferred choice for hip après ski; or sip a quiet cocktail in Taste Bistro’s intimate bar setting; or seek the pampered touch from the staff of its world class spa; or dine in Four Diamond elegance in The View Restaurant.
Or make time for all of it.
