Travel Experts Warn Tourists to Avoid Visiting Hawaii This Week
Honolulu, Hawaii (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- It’s April. With the rainy season now over, the weather conditions in Hawaii are better than ever. The whale watching is good and the summer crowds haven’t hit this island paradise yet. They even say that April is the perfect time to visit Hawaii. So why not go now, where’s the catch?
According to TripTrist Travel Planner, the end of April and beginning of May (April 29 – May 3/5) is the so-called Golden Week in Japan. A set of important public holidays in Japan happen to take place one after the other. As a result, Hawaii will suddenly be absolutely crowded with Japanese tourists who spend their vacation time on the islands en masse.
Waikiki is one of the worst sufferers of overcrowding during the Golden Week, but practically all of Hawaii sees a huge increase in tourist numbers from Japan. You may struggle to find accommodation or a car rental and the waiting times for many attractions may be horrible. Oh, and stay away from the Hilo side of the Big Island the week after Easter Sunday – the Merrie Monarch Festival is also known to attract huge crowds to the area.
So When is the Best Time to Go to Hawaii Then?
Amazingly, summer is considered low season in Hawaii. Though many tourists come between June and August, when school is out, mid to late May and early June remain a fabulous time to visit Hawaii.
Another good bet to escape from the crowds and enjoy Hawaii’s pleasant weather in peace is to go to Hawaii in October. School would have started already, but it’s not until sometime in November that the rainier part of the year begins for the islands. Just avoid the Big Island during the Iron Man Triathlon in early October.
