Travis Manion Foundation Challenges 100 People to Raise $100 on #GivingTuesday
Doylestown, PA (PRWEB) November 26, 2014 -- After shoppers converge on big box stores for Black Friday, “Mom & Pop” stores for Small Business Saturday, and online websites for Cyber Monday, there is a day of giving, referred to as #GivingTuesday. Now in its 3rd year, #GivingTuesday was created to follow up those days to focus on a culture of giving throughout the holidays, and has quickly become a national movement. The Travis Manion Foundation, located in Doylestown, PA, is taking an interesting approach towards the 24 hour campaign on December 2nd, by asking their constituents and followers to participate in the exciting day along-side them. The initial goal of the foundation’s #GivingTuesday strategy was to have 100 people each fundraise $100 during the 24 hour window. Because #GivingTuesday is a social media driven initiative, the foundation also created a campaign titled “I Give Because,” which encourages individuals to post pictures of what motivates them to give back, tied into their #GivingTuesday message or donation. The Foundation hopes to raise $10,000 on #GivingTuesday, which will go towards their programs to benefit veterans and families of the fallen. Those interested in participating or donating can find details online at http://www.TravisManion.org.
The Travis Manion Foundation engages with veterans and families of the fallen in all stages of their personal journeys and offers them unique opportunities to empower them to achieve their goals. Through Mentorship and Advocacy, Expeditions, Character Does Matter, and the 9/11 Heroes Run, veterans and families of the fallen are leading in their communities. They are challenging themselves and others to continue the service to community and country exemplified by the nation’s fallen heroes and veterans.
About Travis Manion Foundation
The Travis Manion Foundation is a qualified 501(c)3, founded shortly after the death of 1st Lt. Travis Manion in Iraq on April 29, 2007 by the fallen Marine’s mother, the late Janet Manion. Her goal was to empower our nation’s veterans and support other family members of the fallen, to ensure that our nation’s heroes are never forgotten. The powerful words Travis spoke before leaving for his second and final deployment to Iraq – “If Not Me, Then Who...” – have inspired a national movement that is growing rapidly. The Foundation challenges veterans and families of the fallen to lead the “If Not Me, Then Who…” movement, and inspires others to continue the service to community and country exemplified by the nation’s fallen heroes.
