Cypress, CA (PRWEB) February 18, 2015 -- In May 2015, Trident University International(Trident) will introduce the new Trident Fastrac session structure. Trident determined that shortening the academic sessions from 12 weeks to 8 weeks will meet the needs of its students, improve the student experience, and could result in improved completion rates.
Trident has done extensive work to develop and continue to deliver an excellent academic experience and comparable learning outcomes in both the 12-week and the 8-week session structure. The new Trident Fastrac structure will offer increased flexibility to students enrolled in bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.
Students who choose this new structure will have the ability to complete more sessions per year thereby decreasing the time to graduation. In order to meet the needs of all Trident students, the 12-week sessions will continue to be available for current active students who choose that path. All doctoral courses will remain in the 12-week format.
“The introduction of the Trident Fastrac structure ties directly back to student success, one of the key pillars of Trident’s mission. After reviewing the data and talking to our student body, it was clear that this was the right move to make to improve the academic experiences of the entire Trident community,” Dr. Michael K. Mahoney, Executive Vice President and Provost.
Introducing the Trident Fastrac session structure makes perfect sense for Trident. Shorter sessions have benefits, as research indicates that online learners have more occasions for deeper learning with peers and educators, which leads to better student performance. Drop and withdrawal rates also decline, which can be attributed to the intense focus and interaction leading to higher student engagement.
The Trident Fastrac session structure is a change that Trident students want. In a survey administered to Trident students last year, a majority of students responded that they would switch to the shorter sessions recognizing the advantages. A total of 70% of students feel that the University should offer both session lengths concurrently to give students a choice which is why Trident will continue to offer both session lengths for current students.
