Trident University International Set To Introduce Scholarship for Senior Military Leaders
Cypress, CA (PRWEB) September 24, 2015 -- Trident University International (Trident) is set to introduce the William “Joe” Gainey Scholarship. Named in honor of retired Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (SEAC) and Trident Board of Trustees member William “Joe” Gainey, this scholarship is open to all E-9 active duty, reserve, and National Guard members currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces and pursuing a graduate degree at Trident.
This scholarship supplements the Military Education Grant that is also available to active duty, reserve, and National Guard members. With the William “Joe” Gainey Scholarship, E-9s working towards a graduate degree will pay a total of $250 per credit hour.
“There will always be opportunities in front of us, and we must know when to take advantage of them. We should always make time for educational opportunities!” said SEAC (R) William “Joe” Gainey, Board of Trustees.
SEAC (R) Gainey enlisted in the Army in 1974 and served the United States for 33 years. Over the course of his career he held several leadership positions ranging from gunner to Command Sergeant Major. He served in Operation Joint Endeavor (IFOR), Operation Joint Guard (SFOR3) and Operation Joint Forge (SFOR 8) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in Operation Iraqi Freedom II.
Beginning in October 2005, SEAC (R) Gainey was the first Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, honorably serving in a role dedicated to advising the chairperson on matters of professional development of enlisted personnel assigned to joint billets. He retired on April 25, 2008 with the rank of Command Sergeant Major.
SEAC (R) Gainey holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Education, both from Trident. In addition, he serves as a Board Advisor for Centurion Military Alliance, Military Program Advisor for Eye Safety Systems, and is the founder and owner of WGainey Consulting.
