Trident University to Help Support the Military at the Annual Race on the Base
Cypress, CA (PRWEB) February 21, 2014 -- Trident University International (Trident) is happy to announce its participation in the 33rd Annual Southland Credit Union Los Alamitos Race on the Base, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Feb. 22nd at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos, CA.
Trident has been involved with Race on the Base for the past two years, sponsoring last year’s Shadow Run. This key event allows Trident to continue its support of the Armed Forces while promoting a healthy lifestyle. Further, as a 100% online university, Trident values this opportunity to interact with the student community.
“Face-to-face interactions with the greater Trident community are limited, so we relish our involvement with Race on the Base. It’s an amazing opportunity for us to support the men and women of the Armed Forces right here in our own neighborhood,” says Steven L. Hall, National Director of Military Affairs.
Trident will sponsor the 5K Run, 5K Walk, and the 10K Run. Proceeds from this event will benefit USA Water Polo National Training Center at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB) with a portion of the proceeds donated to Morale Welfare Recreation (MWR) for Military at the JFTB. The 5K Walk is co-hosted by the Cancer Support Foundation and a portion of the proceeds, generated from the 5K Walk and through race registration, is donated to the organization.
Trident regularly supports the local and international community. In addition to being a community sponsor for Race on the Base, Trident faculty and staff recently participated in a Toys-forTots toy-donation drive and an internal fund drive to support the victims of last year’s devastating typhoon in the Philippines. Employees helped raise over $3000 for the relief efforts.
