Trinitas Regional Medical Center Partners with EDCO to Begin Scanning Medical Records
Saint Louis, Missouri (PRWEB) October 24, 2013 -- Trinitas Regional Medical Center, a 531 bed hospital in Elizabeth, New Jersey recently executed an agreement with EDCO® Health Information Solutions to implement Solarity® technology and indexing services for medical records scanned at patient discharge. The implementation of EDCO’s scanning solution will be in concert with the medical center’s roll-out of their electronic document management system (EDMS).
Upon implementation, Trinitas will begin scanning the portion of the paper medical record that does not exist electronically for the first time in order to create a complete electronic patient record. This enhancement will provide Trinitas clinical staff with the ability to access the complete record simultaneously from anywhere with secure access. By implementing EDCO’s technology in conjunction with their EMR and EDMS, Trinitas will be able to leverage the immediate benefits of EDCO’s technology and services, such as guaranteed 24 hour turnaround time and 99% or greater accuracy metrics.
“It was critical to find a solution that digitized the paper component of the paper chart at discharge without requiring hospital staff to manually index each document to the appropriate portion of the electronic chart or rely on antiquated technology such as bar codes,” said Valdery Campos, Director of Health Information Services at Trinitas Regional Medical Center. “Solarity will assist us in simplifying the scanning process and will provide physicians with the access they need to the patient chart when and where they need it.”
The partnership between EDCO and Trinitas was made possible thanks to the collaborative efforts with the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA). NJHA’s strategic business program features a collection of partners, such as EDCO, who provide innovative solutions to the changing needs of NJHA healthcare facilities. To be featured in the program, a business partner must undergo an extensive selection process to assure they are able to exceed the expectations of New Jersey healthcare facilities.
“We are excited that Trinitas Regional Medical Center has chosen EDCO to drive their day forward scanning initiatives,” said Timothy Keough, Vice President of the New Jersey Hospital Association. “Our partnership with EDCO enables NJHA Healthcare Business Solutions to provide our hospitals improved patient care by eliminating complex challenges associated with current hybrid medical record environments.”
EDCO’s scanning solution will provide the healthcare system with EDCO’s patented Solarity® technology, and process to meet the facility’s medical record scanning goals. Implementation is expected to begin in December.
