Triston Casas Formally Invited to Attend MLB Draft in Person
PLANTATION, Fla. (PRWEB) May 19, 2018 -- Triston Casas, a high school baseball standout from American Heritage High School in Plantation, has been formally invited, by the Office of the Commissioner, to attend the 2018 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. While many sports require players to attend college before playing professionally, baseball allows players to go straight to the pros if they are not enrolled in college and have graduated from high school.
The draft, which is in its 54th year, will begin on June 4th and will be broadcasted live by the MLB Network. The live broadcast on the first day will include the first 43 picks, and the remainder of the draft will continue June 5th and 6th, which can be streamed online at http://www.mlb.com. Only five players were extended the invitation to attend the event in person this year, and Triston will be interviewed during the broadcast.
He has posted some impressive stats in his high school career with a batting average of .393, 6 home runs, 29 RBIs, and 26 runs. He also leads the county with 27 walks. Triston, who committed to the University of Miami in just 8th grade, has impressive raw hitting power and pitch recognition for any player, but is especially impressive when one considers he is just eighteen years old. His remarkable size for his age, 6'5" and 249 pounds, contributes to his hitting power.
Matt Blood, Team USA 18U National Team Director, describes him by saying “he takes everything that he does very seriously, with a very professional approach.” His high school head coach, Bruce Aven, is also impressed with his abilities and mentioned his mindset and understanding of timing is a lot more advanced than the average player. He also compliments his maturity, work ethic, and character.
Should Triston go directly to the Major Leagues, it will be a historic accomplishment. He is projected to go in the first round, which would be a dream come true for him.
