TTI-FSS Representatives Accept Key Industry Association Committee Roles
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) July 05, 2015 -- Director of Advanced Technical Services Heather Gilmer, P.E., and Field Engineer Gerardo Argueta at Tampa Tank Inc.-Florida Structural Steel (TTI-FSS) have accepted committee posts at three key industry associations.
Ms. Gilmer has been named chair of the Fabrication and Erection Subcommittee for the American Railway Engineering & Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) Steel Structures Committee. This committee is responsible for the development and publication of recommended practices and information relating to the fabrication and erection of steel railway bridges. The committee also recommends procedures for inspection, maintenance and rating of existing steel bridges.
In addition, Ms. Gilmer chairs the Fabrication task group for the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and National Steel Bridge Alliance (AASHTO/NSBA) Steel Bridge Collaboration. The mission of the Collaboration is to provide a forum where professionals can work together to improve and achieve the quality and value of steel bridges through standardization of design, fabrication and erection. She also chairs the fabrication task group for the Steel Structures subcommittee of the American Welding Society (AWS) Committee on Structural Welding.
Mr. Argueta is a new member of the American Petroleum Institute’s (API) Refrigerated Tank Task Group and participates on its subcommittee on Aboveground Storage Tanks (SCAST) Subgroup Design. Both groups are committed to keeping industry design and erection standards updated as a result of technical, technological and material changes. It also incorporates new pieces of information from studies performed or experience gained in the sector. All information is gathered, reviewed and published to share with the industry at large.
