TTi Global President/CEO Lori Blaker addresses issues of equality, inclusion and non discrimination by supporting UN Women’s WEP program
Rochester Michigan (PRWEB) September 25, 2013 -- The Women’s Empowerment Principles is a joint initiative between the UN Global Compact and UN Women. Business leaders are encouraged to use the seven Women’s Empowerment Principles as guide posts for actions that advance and empower women in the workplace, marketplace and community.
TTi Global will join with other business leaders from across the globe and give support for advancing equality between women and men. The principles present seven steps that business and other sectors can take to advance and empower women. The video features Lori Blaker discussing the second of the WEP principles while speaking to a group of students at Walsh College in Troy, Michigan.
In a question and answer format Blaker was asked how TTi Global assures sufficient participation of women in decision making and governance at all levels and across all business areas Blaker replied, ”In order to achieve this, it needs to be monitored and measured. Both Global HR and Global Recruiting have a reporting line directly to me so that I can monitor our recruiting and hiring activities. We meet every week to discuss candidates, diversity and who is in the pipeline to develop or bring on board to support. Gender and workforce development issues have a place on every agenda of our senior management team.”
When asked about equal pay, benefits and providing a living wage to both men and women, Blaker emphasized, “There has never been or never will be a pay structure for men and a pay structure for women. Pay revolves around the complexity of the work, the required skill levels, knowledge levels and by competitive market salary levels. All people will be measured according to their performance, job requirements and compensated appropriately. Gender doesn’t even enter into the equation.”
Blaker responded to a question regarding flexible working options stating, “An organization is made-up of individuals. People have life issues that arise, having babies, sick children, spouses, parents, accidents. We have to provide a flexible work environment to attract and retain talent.”
President and CEO, Lori Blaker heads of one of the fastest growing women-led organizations in North America. Her leadership skills continue to be recognized by the business community. In 2012 President/CEO Lori Blaker received the “Leader of Leaders” Award from Leadership Oakland. Under her leadership, TTi Global has ranked consistently among the "Top 25 Woman-Run Businesses in the USA" as recognized by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council.
