Turner Construction Company Completes New Fire and Rescue Center
Washington, DC (PRWEB) July 09, 2013 -- Turner Construction Company is proud to announce the completion of a new fire and rescue center at the new Kincora development in Sterling, VA. The new station is located near Kincora’s entrance along Gloucester Parkway/Nokes Boulevard and west of Route 28. The addition of the new station is expected to significantly reduce the response time of safety officials for county residents in that area, meeting the needs of the rapidly growing community along routes 28 and 7.
Led by Turner Construction, who teamed with Lemay Erickson Wilson Architects and Polleo Group, this design-build project consisted of a four bay fire station located on five acres of land. The building includes 17, 500 SF of shared space for operations, a community room, fitness and residential areas. There is also a planned expansion of five apparatus bays for the future.
The success of this project can be attributed to the partnership between Loudoun County, Nokes Partners and Turner Construction on this adaptive P3 project. Loudoun County experienced the key benefits from adopting this type of public-private partnership: reduced costs, accelerated timeline, risk transfer, high quality which all contributed to a high value project in support of the County’s growing social infrastructure needs.
“We are proud to be a part of leading the way for Design Build and Public Private Partnerships in Loudoun County. This partnership type delivery, allows us to come together and in this case, to play a key role in helping to improve the response times of first responders in the Ashburn community,” said Ken Jones, Vice President and General Manager of Turner’s Washington, DC office.
