Turner Construction Company Earns Highest Score in Corporate Equality Index
New York, New York (PRWEB) December 10, 2015 -- Turner Construction Company is pleased to announce the firm has earned a score of 100/100 on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI), earning the designation of Best Place to Work for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Equality.
The company works hard to promote workplace equality for LGBT employees. Up from last year’s score of 90, this year’s 100 reflects that hard work, including revision of policies, practices, and benefits related to LGBT interests, company-wide required learning to promote LGBT awareness, and increasing the programming and reach of the Turner Pride Alliance—the company’s employee resource group for LGBT topics—which recently launched a Pride Ally program for employees who support workplace equality.
As in previous years, the score places Turner at the top of the engineering and construction industry when it comes to corporate policies and practices related to workplace equality.
“For the third year in a row, we have achieved recognition from the HRC that recognizes our commitment to our LGBT community. And this year, through all the work of our Pride Alliance and Allies we achieved the highest score, 100 out of 100” said Karen Sweeney, senior vice president of diversity, inclusion and community at Turner. “This recognition affirms and illuminates our continued commitment to providing the best place to work for all of our employees. We are dedicated to fostering an environment in which all our people feel heard and valued, and everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
The 2015 CEI rated a total of 1,024 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community.
