TVAR Solutions, Index Engines Partner to Bring Enterprise Storage Management and Cloud Enablement Solutions to Federal Organizations
HOLMDEL, NJ (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- As Federal agencies struggle to organize, locate and trim enterprise data and associated expenses, TVAR Solutions partnered with software company Index Engines to offer file-level analysis software and tape-to-cloud migration solutions.
The addition of Index Engines’ software to TVAR Solutions’ storage optimization services enables them to reduce risks and costs within their data center while complying with regulations governing the data including Freedom of Information Act Requests, the Cloud First Policy and the Federal Data Center Consolidation Initiative.
“Our clients are continually seeking solutions that mitigate unnecessary risks, costs and complexity,” said VP of Strategy and Solutions for TVAR Solutions, Toby Zellers. “The cloud promises all these things, but only with products like Index Engines’ Catalyst Platform can legacy systems, and the data tied to those systems, be moved to a cloud infrastructure.”
Index Engines offers a patented Catalyst Platform where tapes and all forms of storage and unstructured document types are analyzed and the user is provided a searchable ‘map’ of the type of information that exists, where it is located, who owns it, when it was last accessed or modified.
Through this process data can be de-duplicated and culled before moving to the cloud or another storage platform, effectively eliminating a storage platform while also reducing the amount of data transferred over.
Federal regulations have made data storage costs, capacity and platforms a high priority for many agencies, but faced with petabytes of unstructured storage, it was difficult to understand what should be migrated and what no longer has value.
“TVAR Solutions is a forward-thinking company that understands how aged, unstructured data becomes a liability and unnecessary cost,” Index Engines Vice President David Ballard said. “Partnering with them puts our technology in the hands of people with the same vision that can solve a lot of government data problems.”
Optionally, Catalyst includes full-text indexing which would allow for keyword queries on content for to locate FOIA inquiries, unencrypted sensitive files, key contracts and perform confidential information audits.
In addition, the full-text indexing enables the use of Catalyst for eDiscovery purposes, which TVAR Solutions also routinely fields. For ESI collection, data is identified and aggregated from any available source, from online file and email servers, desktops, forensic images to backup tapes. ESI is captured using a forensic image of the original content so that metadata is not modified ensuring defensibility. Once ESI is collected all content can be uniformly culled, managed and moved to archive.
“Our partnership with Index Engines is going to be instrumental in moving legacy data into the cloud, keeping agencies compliant and assisting with litigation proceedings,” Zellers said. “Plus, we can offer these organizations cost- and time-effective re-platforming of old data.”
