Two ElliptiGO Project Athletes Named to Team USA for IAAF World Indoor Championships
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) February 27, 2014 -- The ElliptiGO Project, a group of elite athletes focused on using innovative training tools and techniques to improve performance, today announced that Project members Gabriele Grunewald and Shannon Rowbury were named to Team USA for the IAAF World Indoor Championships, taking place March 7-9 in Sopot, Poland. Grunewald and Rowbury finished first and second in the women’s 3000m race at the USA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico this past weekend to secure their spots.
With two Olympic finals, a World Championships bronze medal, and four US National Championship titles to her name, Rowbury brings a depth of experience with her to the 2014 World Indoor Championships. She attributes her success to paying attention to the little things along the way. “I am a strong believer in the importance of detail. It's the small things that make the difference and that ultimately lead to big success,” stated Rowbury.
Grunewald will be celebrating her new National title by representing the U.S. at a major championship for the first time. “We’re excited that not only is Gabe the new 3000m National Champion, but both she and Shannon made the World Championship team,” stated Bryan Pate, Co-Founder of ElliptiGO. “We couldn’t be more proud of them and all of our ElliptiGO Project athletes who competed.”
A total of six ElliptiGO Project athletes competed at the USA Indoor Championships over the weekend. Joining Grunewald and Rowbury were Sarah Brown, Katie Mackey, Erica Moore, and Mike Rutt. Only the top two athletes from each event qualified for the World Championships team.
To join The ElliptiGO Project, elite athletes are required to have an inspiring running-related goal that they want to accomplish in the next two years and the desire to authentically integrate new training tools and techniques into their training in order to help them achieve their goal. All Project members must also be willing to share their training and results with other members of the Project. Each athlete uses new tools like the ElliptiGO in a slightly different way, so a major benefit to the team members is being able to communicate with each other and learn new ways to incorporate these devices into their own workout regimens.
