Fort Sam Houston, Texas (PRWEB) March 26, 2015 -- On Thursday, March 26, 2015, the Civilian Corps of the U.S. Army Medical Command celebrates 19 years since the first public recognition by the Surgeon General of the first Corps Chief of the Army Medical Department Civilian Corps. Known as “an integral and inseparable component” of Army Medicine, the Civilian Corps provides the highest quality medical, dental and behavioral health care to Army Soldiers, beneficiaries and their families.

Though civilians have been an essential part of the U.S. Army Medical Command since its beginning during the Revolutionary War over 238 years ago, their duties have evolved over time. Now, making up approximately 60% of the Army Medical Command workforce, the Civilian Corps has made itself a critical component of the Army’s overall strength.
