U.S. Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-49) Tours Meggitt Polymers & Composites Operation in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (PRWEB) May 09, 2017 -- U.S. Congressman Darrell Issa, representing California’s 49th district, visited and toured the Meggitt Polymers & Composites (MPC) operation in San Diego, Calif., on Thurs., April 20, 2017. Meggitt Polymers & Composites (MPC) is a multi-location division of Meggitt PLC, a global engineering group specializing in extreme environment components and smart sub-systems for aerospace, defense and energy markets.
The San Diego location is the composite group’s Center of Excellence for complex molded structures used in extreme environments. Its expertise is in molded multiples of components for missiles and munitions, engines and adjacencies, and structural components on leading commercial and defense aviation platforms.
An example is high-temperature engine components for Pratt & Whitney for the F35/F135 CTOL and STOVL War Fighter platforms. Other customers include Sikorsky, Raytheon, Hamilton Sundstrand, MBDA, Rolls Royce and General Electric.

The operation is experiencing significant growth, with expansion into new facilities that will double its current space and is expected to significantly boost local employment over the next five years.
Congressman Issa was updated on the capabilities of the operation, its industry leadership, role in the greater San Diego business community, and expansion plans. He was hosted by Jim Beck, VP Operations MPC San Diego, and Ray Ringleb, Director Engine Segment.

The 49th district includes Camp Pendleton, the largest Marine Corps training facility in the United States. Congressman Issa currently is a member of the House Judiciary Committee, where he serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet, and the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He served as the Chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee during the 112th and 113th Congresses. Previously, he served on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the Energy Commerce Committee and the Small Business Committee.
