U.S. Court Appoints Ernest Cory Lead Plaintiffs' Counsel In Viagra Melanoma MDL
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) June 17, 2016 -- The Honorable Richard Seeborg has appointed Ernest Cory Plaintiffs’ Lead Counsel in the federal multidistrict litigation, In re: Viagra (Sildenafil Citrate) Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2691. On June 15, 2016, In United States District Court in the Northern District of California, Judge Seeborg appointed fifteen attorneys from across the U.S., including Cory Watson, P.C. Principal Kristian Rasmussen to the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee. The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) had transferred all pending federal Viagra lawsuits across the country to Judge Seeborg’s court in the Northern District of California.
More than 150 federal cases from around the U.S. are consolidated in litigation alleging Pfizer Inc. failed to sufficiently test a potential link between the use of Viagra and the risk of deadly melanoma before the drug was approved by the FDA. Additionally, Plaintiffs allege that even when studies indicated a potential link between Viagra and an increased risk of melanoma, Pfizer Inc. failed to warn users about the risks associated with Viagra use.
