U.S. Preventive Medicine Provides Health Program for Labor/Management Health Care Coalition
Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) November 19, 2013 -- U.S. Preventive Medicine announced today it has been selected as the preferred vendor for a comprehensive wellness, prevention and disease management program for the Labor/Management Health Care Coalition of the Upper Midwest (LMHCC). The announcement was made by USPM CEO Robert Tazioli. U.S. Preventive Medicine is an accredited, award-winning workplace health program.
LMHCC was founded to provide better health care to labor and management organizations. The coalition represents 500,000 covered lives in over 50 member funds in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota.
LMHCC Executive Director Doug Rubbelke stated, “More and more labor organizations are choosing to be proactive in providing their members with wellness and prevention services. LMHHC is pleased to introduce these innovative services to our members through U.S. Preventive Medicine. This move from reactive medicine to preventive medicine is the leading edge of workplace health and safety.”
“We applaud LMHCC's leadership in their health and wellbeing mission for workers and we are extremely pleased LMHCC has chosen USPM as their prevention solution,” said USPM CEO, Rob Tazioli. “This decision was based on the clinical evidence of health improvement by users of The Prevention Plan and our high level of employee participation.”
The Prevention Plan provides three levels of preventive medicine. Primary prevention: Wellness, health promotion and education to maintain health. Secondary prevention: Screening for early detection/diagnosis of health conditions. Tertiary prevention: Early intervention with evidence-based care management to reduce complications and disability from health conditions.
Mr. Tazioli explains that “U.S. Preventive Medicine provides a wellness program that employs an evidence-based health assessment as well as biometric screening to identify member health risks. As a result, each member receives their own personal Prevention Score™. We then leverage technology that allows members to access their information at the desktop and on mobile devices. We introduce exercise and nutrition activities to drive member participation and we provide live-call health coaching to ultimately help members raise their Prevention Score. Through these efforts, we are helping members gain a better understanding of their numbers, allowing them to actively participate in improving their health status and wellbeing.”
About the Labor/Management Health Care Coalition of the Upper Midwest
The LMHCC provides programs and services to improve health care policy, education, value purchasing and data. Aggregated membership gives the Coalition the leverage to secure Value Based Purchasing to provide better costs and quality for members, their workers and families. Through education, cooperation and outreach, the LMHCC currently serves over 50 member funds, mostly Taft Hartley Health & Welfare Funds. These funds are usually self-insured and managed by a joint Labor/Management Trusteeship that has a fiduciary responsibility and incentives to make the best value decisions in purchasing health care services for their members.
