U.S. Senate Candidate Neal Simon Announces 2018 Q1 Fundraising Total
ROCKVILLE, Md. (PRWEB) April 12, 2018 -- Neal Simon, an unaffiliated candidate for Maryland’s U.S. Senate seat, today announced his campaign has received more than $625,000 in total receipts and has $465,000 cash on hand. Simon, who has never run for political office, announced his candidacy just eight weeks ago.
“I’m overwhelmed by the tremendous response from the people of Maryland who are sick and tired of the bickering and partisanship of career politicians that has stopped progress,” said Simon. “While they do nothing, sitting with their feet up and seemingly unaware or conveniently forgetful of their obligations and duty to our people and our great state, our country sits stagnant and Marylanders suffer. Marylanders want new, fresh leadership that is focused on bringing people together and helping them get ahead, not on manufacturing crises that divide our country.”
Simon’s campaign has already raised more in its first quarter than any other U.S. Senate challenger campaign to lifelong politician Ben Cardin. Further, Simon’s fundraising is on par with Cardin’s first quarter fundraising during his previous election year. Cardin has not yet released his 2018 first quarter fundraising.
Simon, 49, is a husband and father to three children. He is well-known in the community as an entrepreneur, volunteer and donor to many great community causes. He currently serves as chairman of the Greater Washington Community Foundation. In 2016, Neal and his family were honored as Interfaith Works’ “Humanitarians of the Year.”
Since the fall of 2017, Simon has traveled across Maryland, meeting with Marylanders from all walks of life to hear their concerns and discuss key issues impacting the state and the nation.
Simon will face the Democratic and Republican candidates for Maryland’s U.S. Senate seat in November. If successful, he will replace Cardin, 74, who is currently running for his third Senate term after serving 20 years in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Simon is endorsed by Unite America, a national movement focused on recruiting, supporting and electing non-affiliated, moderate candidates to national and state-wide positions. In February of this year, Unite America unveiled the first national candidate slate of independents that includes Simon as well as U.S. Senate candidate of Missouri, Craig O’Dear, and gubernatorial candidates Terry Hayes of Maine, Greg Orman of Kansas, and Governor Bill Walker of Alaska.
