UAS Labs Announces Study on Women’s Probiotic and Cranberry Formula for UTI Support
Wausau, WI (PRWEB) June 29, 2016 -- UAS Labs is pleased to announce the publication of a study on the benefits of their Women’s probiotic and cranberry formula for urinary tract health in the most recent issue of the Journal of Functional Foods. This in vitro study looked at the synergistic benefits of the active components from Cran Naturelle™ organic cranberry powder and specific probiotic strains, for UTI support. Results indicated this particular combination produced greater benefits when combined than when only the individual components were used.
UAS Labs, LLC collaborated with Complete Phytochemical Solutions and the Reed Research Group at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, both well-known for their knowledge of plant bioactives. UAS Labs Chief Scientific Officer and one of the study authors, Dr. Greg Leyer, adds, “The state of Wisconsin is the leading producer of cranberries in the United States, and studying the synergies within this formulation was made possible by partnering with those at UW-Madison that specifically have expertise with cranberry proanthocyanidins.”
Based on this positive outcome and a better understanding of the synergies within this formulation, gold standard, double-blind, placebo-controlled human trials are planned. UAS Labs’ company President, Kevin Mehring, states, “We are committed to performing clinical trials to build upon the efficacy of our branded and private label products. This study takes another key step forward in building our science portfolio.”
“Cran Naturelle™ was selected because of its superior quality testing program surrounding authenticity and adulteration, low water activity and standardization of high potency of PAC content containing both soluble and insoluble PACs,” according to Stephen Lukawski, Director of Sales and Business Development for Fruit d'Or. He adds, “The results are encouraging as components within the whole cranberry, such as protein and Fiber, seems to provide a source of food for the probiotics to create this synbiotic effect.”
