UBA and VSP® Vision Care Host Webinar on Strategies to Increase Utilization of Vision Benefits
Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) February 24, 2015 -- A recent study by the Vision Council finds 81 percent of American adults need some form of vision correction. According to VSP Vision Care (VSP), the only national not-for-profit vision company, with 70 million members and a network of 71,000 access points, enrollment in a vision plan leads to higher employee productivity and lower health care costs for employers. As a Strategic Partner of United Benefit Advisors® (UBA), UBA and VSP are hosting a WisdomWorkplace webinar for Human Resource professionals and employers, titled, "Getting the Most Out Of Your Vision Benefit" on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. ET / 11:00 a.m. PT, which will teach the keys to cost savings with vision benefits.
VSP and Human Capital Management Services Group (HCMS Group) recently performed a study on 120,000 VSP members to determine the impact higher utilization of vision benefits had on early detection of chronic conditions, productivity, and healthcare costs. The results overwhelmingly showed that early detection not only translates into healthier employees, but also substantial savings through improved productivity and lowered healthcare costs.
The study found that employees with high vision benefit utilization rates will require fewer medications, are more likely to get preventive care, and will be 26.7% less likely to require an ER visit1.
“This translates into big savings for the employer," says Pat McClelland, Vice President of U.S. Commercial Accounts at VSP Vision Care. "Employers see an ROI of $1.45 for every initial dollar invested in exam services.”
