UbiCare and PKH Enterprises Partner for Secure Access to Health Information
Boston, MA (PRWEB) June 24, 2015 -- UbiCare, an award-winning digital healthcare communications and technology company, and PKH Enterprises, a professional services firm helping clients address policy and technology issues, have formed a partnership.
As the solution that distributes critical patient education along the care continuum for hundreds of U.S. hospitals, UbiCare remains committed to the security of Protected Health Information (PHI). UbiCare’s patient engagement solution SmarteXp is HIPAA-compliant and certified as a Meaningful Use 2 patient-specific education resource.
“This new partnership with PKH Enterprises, along with our other security measures, gives us extra advantage so that clients can feel confident that their patients’ PHI is protected,” says UbiCare CEO Betsy Weaver.
“Hospital administrators have enough to think about already, including attesting to CMS Meaningful Use requirements, managing population health and improving HCAHPS scores,” Weaver adds. “They should not have to wonder if their patient education systems are safely handling PHI as clinicians work to improve patient outcomes.”
Among the biggest threats to these systems are employees and other insiders who have legitimate access. According to PwC’s most recent US State of Cybercrime Survey, almost two-thirds of United States companies have reported experiencing an insider attack. However, only half of companies have any sort of plan to deal with such incidents, which can result in the loss of critical data, proprietary information and reputation.
In response, PKH Enterprises is piloting a new product, Insider Threat Compliance (ITC) Platform, for which UbiCare is one of the first clients. Together, UbiCare and PKH will incorporate a companion messaging series to deepen clients’ understanding of the program, including knowing what to expect and what the findings may mean to their organization.
“We are very excited to leverage the communications tools from UbiCare,” says Patricia Hammar. “As important as it is in healthcare to communicate, the success of any project includes incorporating your stakeholders and keeping them informed and educated.”
