UbiCare and PreOp.com Partner to Increase Patient Access to Care Throughout the Continuum
Boston (PRWEB) July 04, 2015 -- UbiCare, an award-winning digital healthcare communications and technology company, and MedSelfEd, Inc. d/b/a PreOp.com, patient education video producers, have formed a partnership to build strategic connections for one another’s clients and provide access to patient engagement and education throughout the full care continuum—before, during and after surgery.
Considering that most care happens outside the four walls of the hospital, the partnership will fill a gap in patient access to care. UbiCare and PreOp.com will channel their expertise inside and outside the hospital setting, reaching patients wherever they are, to improve quality, safety and outcomes.
“A patient’s hospital stay is the shortest point on his or her continuum of care,” said UbiCare CEO Betsy Weaver. “All new CMS models of care aimed at saving money and improving care require communication before, during and after the hospital stay.”
UbiCare will incorporate PreOp.com patient education videos into UbiCare patient engagement messaging series, targeting the videos to the exact point on the care continuum when patients need that information.
“PreOp.com’s two video libraries—the PreOp® Surgery Centers and the PostCare™ Discharge Series—have been leading providers of patient education for over 15 years,” said PreOp.com CEO John Samellas. “Today we are excited about the opportunities that UbiCare's patient engagement solution will offer us to satisfy the full continuum of care for our patients and their families.”
UbiCare’s patient engagement solution is HIPAA-compliant and certified as a Meaningful Use 2 patient-specific education resource. The messaging series are delivered automatically for a seamless care experience for both patients and providers and give patients an easy way to refer to the information hospitals need them to have when they are ready to receive it.
“Patients forget 80–90% of what they learn in a doctor’s office,” Weaver said. “It makes sense that you would want to provide the right educational resources to them in the way they are most likely to understand and retain it—and for most patients that means forming a digital connection with them.”
“We are in an enlightened time for patient education,” Samellas said. “PreOp.com patient education has been a large part of this change over the past 15 years, with over 150 million online views of educational videos. The partnership between UbiCare and PreOp.com will allow patients and their families to benefit from ‘right time’ educational resources and allow clients to boost their patient engagement initiatives.”
