UGI Performance Solutions Celebrates Latest Project – Messiah College’s Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Plant
(PRWEB) June 21, 2016 -- UGI Performance Solutions (http://www.ugiperformance.com), a division of UGI HVAC Enterprises, Inc. (http://www.ugihvacenterprises.com), is pleased to announce the successful completion of their latest project - the Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Plant for Messiah College. The ribbon cutting ceremony, held last week in Martin Commons, was attended by more than 60 key leaders to celebrate as the new project comes online, poised to save tens of thousands of dollars for the college and greatly reduce the campus’ environmental impact.
The Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Plant’s system generates electricity on-site, utilizing heat recovered from normal natural gas fuel combustion and providing usable thermal energy for heating, cooling, hot water, and industrial needs. Brad Hall, President, UGI Energy Services, highlights the benefits of technology and locally produced natural gas in delivering these benefits, “The use of horizontal drilling has enabled access to many previously untapped natural gas areas. Being able to secure that natural gas right here in Pennsylvania instead of having it transported in a pipeline 1,500 miles helps the economics and is good for the environment.”
UGI Performance Solutions is a leading CHP Company, well known for developing and executing state of the art Combined Heat and Power (CHP) projects alongside parent company UGI HVAC Enterprises, a part of the UGI Corporation (ugicorp.com) family. CHP Energy Solutions, also known as Cogen Power Solutions, are the solution of choice for many organizations, like Messiah College, that desire efficient use of energy. CHP solutions deliver efficiencies of often greater than 80 percent, while conventional electric solutions deliver near 39 percent and boiler systems between 65 and 75 percent. For Messiah College, the CHP Solution helps to create a more energy efficient environment, while affordably and effectively maintaining campus facilities.
“This was an exciting and complex project for UGI Utilities as this enabled us to bring a new natural gas pipeline over a mile to the campus, have substantial distribution points on campus and complete significant additional infrastructure improvements that will benefit Messiah College and many others in the area.” - Bob Stoyko, VP of Marketing and Customer Relations, UGI Utilities
