Sterling Heights, Michigan (PRWEB) November 21, 2016 -- Beginning with tax year 2016, the deadline for employers and small businesses to file Form W-2 and certain 1099s has been moved up to Jan. 31; therefore 2016 forms are due Jan. 31, 2017. Previously, these were due at the end of February (for paper filings) or March (for electronic filings). The IRS is hoping that an earlier deadline will enable it to better match its records against tax filings, potentially detecting tax fraud earlier. Simultaneously, refunds for returns including the earned income and additional child credits will be delayed until February 15.
