UJA-Federation of New York's Wall Street Dinner Raises More Than $26 Million
New York, NY (PRWEB) December 22, 2014 -- UJA-Federation of New York’s Wall Street Dinner, one of New York City’s leading philanthropic events, raised more than $26 million for UJA-Federation’s annual campaign. The sold-out dinner drew more than 1,700 leaders from the Wall Street community who gathered at New York Hilton Midtown on December 8, 2014.
Robert S. Kapito, president of BlackRock and chair of UJA-Federation’s Wall Street & Financial Services Division, welcomed guests: “UJA-Federation is an organization that is deeply meaningful to so many of us in this room. We are each inspired by different areas of the work of UJA-Federation and know that supporting UJA enables us to enact our values and have the greatest possible impact.”
Mr. Kapito also announced that UJA-Federation had successfully completed the Jane and Dan Och matching challenge, raising more than $2 million in three months.
Morris W. Offit, chairman of Offit Capital, presented the Gustave L. Levy Award to Jacques Brand, chief executive officer of Deutsche Bank North America, who is a son of Holocaust survivors. This award recognizes a leader in the Wall Street community for both exceptional professional achievements and an enduring commitment to UJA-Federation.
Evan M. Roth, managing partner at BBR Partners, LLC, presented the inaugural Alan C. Greenberg Young Leadership Award to Brett H. Barth, also a managing partner at BBR Partners, LLC. This new award goes to an individual whose values and ideas reflect the extraordinary standard set by the late Alan C. “Ace” Greenberg.
Special tribute was given to Mr. Greenberg by John A. Paulson, president of Paulson & Co. Inc. “Just a few months ago, we lost one of the Wall Street community’s most beloved members, Alan C. ‘Ace’ Greenberg. Ace was a leader in every sense of the word, inspiring us with his generosity to UJA-Federation,” Paulson said. “This award is a great way to recognize Ace because few things made him happier than seeing young people succeed. He loved nurturing, encouraging, laughing with, and rewarding young talent.”
Eric S. Goldstein, CEO of UJA-Federation, commented on the generosity of the Wall Street community. “UJA-Federation simply could not help as many people as we do, year after year, without the support of the Wall Street community. And their generosity sets the philanthropic standard for the entire New York community.”
Daniel S. Och, CEO of Och-Ziff Capital Management Group and senior chair of UJA-Federation’s Investment Management Division, also took the podium to thank guests and introduced the keynote conversation between David Petraeus, chairman of the KKR Global Institute, retired four-star general, and former director of the CIA, and Marc Lipschultz, global head of Energy &Infrastructure at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and chair of UJA-Federation’s Private Equity Division.
This year’s event saw its largest dais to date. Among the Wall Street community leaders on the dais were Stacy Bash-Polley, head of Client Relationship Management & Strategy in the Americas at Goldman Sachs; Lesley Goldwasser, managing partner of GreensLedge Capital Markets LLC; Michael A. Karsch, founder of KCM Consulting, LLC, and vice chair of UJA-Federation’s Wall Street & Financial Services Division; Alexandra Lebenthal, president and CEO of Lebenthal Holdings, LLC; Larry Robbins, CEO of Glenview Capital Management and senior chair of UJA-Federation’s Wall Street & Financial Services Division; Jerry I.
