UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School's Online MBA Program Is Ranked No. 3 by U.S. News & World Report
Chapel Hill, N.C. (PRWEB) January 12, 2016 -- U.S. News & World Report has ranked the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School’s MBA@UNC program No. 3 in its second ranking of online MBA programs.
UNC Kenan-Flagler has enrolled more than 1,300 students in MBA@UNC and graduated more than 500 since the program launched in 2011. Today more than 725 students – from 48 states and 40 countries – are enrolled.
“MBA@UNC is a new and unique model of online education based on UNC’s tradition of excellence, innovation and access,” said Sridhar Balasubramanian, associate dean of both MBA@UNC and the full-time MBA Program. “Designed for working professionals who seek a highly flexible and customizable learning and leadership development experience, our students – wherever they are in the world – benefit from the quality and rigor of a UNC Kenan-Flagler education.”
“What makes MBA@UNC unique among online programs is how it blends flexibility with intensively interactive experiences, such as weekly live sessions with faculty and students, and the rigor and quality of an on-campus program,” said Susan Cates (MBA ’98), executive director of MBA@UNC. “When you factor in our students’ commitment to their education, their engagement with the School and their career success, you have a remarkable program.”
MBA@UNC covers material taught in a typical lecture in self-paced or asynchronous class sessions, which include original, broadcast-quality video segments, self-paced lectures, interactive case studies and collaborative activities that foster teamwork. During live or synchronous class sessions, a professor and a cohort of 10-15 students meet weekly in an online classroom scheduled to accommodate students in multiple time zones. Using live, streaming video, they see and hear each other as they analyze and discuss course topics and materials in real time. At the end of every quarter, students and professors attend face-to-face Global Immersions at different locations around the world, which will include Buenos Aires, Detroit, Budapest and Chapel Hill in 2016.
The MBA@UNC technology platform gives students access to the academic content – asynchronous classes and recorded synchronous sessions – 24 hours a day, seven days a week; enables live office hours, student-led study groups, group simulations, negotiation exercises and projects.
To deliver MBA@UNC, UNC Kenan-Flagler collaborates with technology partner 2U Inc. 2U is a leading provider of software-as-a-service technology and technology-enabled services for nonprofit colleges and universities to deliver high-quality education to qualified students anywhere.
