WHAT: The local Chicago office of UNCF will host its 34th annual 5K Walk for Education. More than 500 people are expected to attend the event, benefiting deserving students and UNCF’s member institutions. LeeAnn Trotter, entertainment reporter for NBC5, will serve as the emcee for the event. Last year’s walk raised nearly $100,000—providing students with the necessary resources to get to and through college successfully. This year’s sponsors are NBC5, American Airlines, Aramark, BMO Harris Bank, Discover, iHeart Media Chicago, Inc., C.N.A. Allstate, Chicago Housing Authority, ALDI, Chicago Park District, Grosvenor Capital Management, Chicago Crusader, Chicago Defender and Cook County of Illinois.
