Unique Directory-Based Mobile App Launches Hartwell, GA as Its First City
Athens, GA (PRWEB) July 20, 2015 -- Mobile Town Guide (MTG), a new product from Map Dynamics, could revolutionize the way a person interacts with their community. Company owner and lead developer Jeremy Minnick hopes that “each edition of Mobile Town Guide will provide opportunities for individuals to explore communities beyond the typical online search engines and user review options.”
With the vision of putting “your community in your hands,” the team at MTG can give local government programs the ability to show residents and visitors alike what makes their city great. Unlike other, larger directory websites, Mobile Town Guide gives the customer, and individual business owners, control over directory listings and the categories available. Is a city famous for art museums, greenways and trails, the largest pizza in the state? The best of the best of each community can be featured within the Guide.
Hartwell, Georgia will be the first city to launch a complete, publicly available Mobile Town Guide on Monday, July 20, 2015. Tina Howard, Economic Restructuring Chair of the Hartwell Downtown Development Authority, was the driving force behind Hartwell’s adoption of MTG. “We are a vibrant town with some really great small businesses. We have a wonderful local population, a sizable weekender population, and we're lucky enough to be a tourist destination as well, but we lose a lot of sales and tax revenue to nearby larger towns. Recently I noticed the bigger cities were using apps to promote their businesses, and I thought we should do that here,” said Howard.
The Mobile Town Guide team proved versatile in their expertise and outstanding in their guidance throughout the project. “Although I had talked with companies from Pensacola to Las Vegas, I knew what we needed was right down the road in Athens with MTG. They have customized a product for us that would have cost many thousands more if we'd gone elsewhere,” continued Howard. “MyHartwell puts advertising control in the hands of local businesses, as well as providing a calendar of events, and a forum to feature our outstanding community members. I expect we haven’t even tapped the full potential of the program yet.” Hartwell business owners who would like to have a Mobile Town Guide listing, should contact Tina Howard at MyHartwell(at)hartcom(dot)net.
Mobile visibility should be a top priority for local government organizations and small businesses, as more than sixty percent of all Google searches now come from mobile devices. Beginning on April 21, 2015, a new algorithm by Google - “revolutionizing the way mobile friendliness is determined” - was rolled out, affecting all searches world-wide. If a city or local business website is not mobile compatible, visibility will drastically decrease. Mobile Town Guide presents an opportunity to have a mobile presence in a cost effective, user-friendly way, even if an individual business, city, or organization’s site is not compatible.
What makes this app different than other city guide programs?:
- Never have to buy or download a new version
- Give access to directory members to edit their own business/organization profiles
- Embeds directly to your existing website
- Built to work on any smartphone or tablet - Apple or Android
- Control not only individual directory listings, but searchable categories as well
- City managers will have direct access to analytics and measured data
“There is no one way to use this product,” said Minnick. “We encourage our clients to be creative and inclusive about the resources their communities have to offer. Promote businesses, parks, nature reserves, historic landmarks...the options are only limited by your imagination.” Visit http://www.mobiletownguide.com today to view the Hartwell app and discover what makes MTG a unique resource for any town.
