“The M48 brand has always been designed as a line of heavy duty utility and tactical tools. This time around we decided to do something more edgy and fun, but still fully functional and built to the same tough standards as our other M48 products,” Kit Rae, master knife and sword designer, said of the original Cyclone design.
Just like its “big brother,” the 5 3/4” cast 2Cr13 stainless steel blade of the new boot knife has been crafted into a tri-edged triumph, using temperatures up to 1,030 degrees, which gives it a 48HC, and the three spiraling cutting edges come down to an incredibly sharp piercing point.
“We always liked the three edged blades on Tibetan Phurba daggers and the twisted spike designs of some antique stiletto blades. The Cyclone design basically combines those two ideas with a three-edged spiral spike, like a triple helix,” Rae said.
As with all M48 knives, which are made of the highest grade materials, the glass-fiber-reinforced nylon handle gives the knife a strong and secure grip and it also features a solid stainless steel hand guard and skull crusher pommel. The included custom Vortec boot clip sheath fits like a glove and is virtually indestructible.
