United Sovereignty Alliance Issues Call for Citizen’s Constitutional Referendum Vote in Response to Recent Discussion of Constitutional Convention of the States
Sioux Falls, South Dakota (PRWEB) March 17, 2015 -- Burton F. Hill, founder of United Sovereignty Alliance, a South Dakota registered nonprofit, is calling on citizen voters in the United States, not only to support an Article V Convention of the States, but to use their Constitutional rights through the Tenth Amendment to force government reforms. Article V would permits voters to bring forth proposed amendments to the U.S. Constitution.
The United Sovereignty Alliance believes that voters in the United States require a vehicle to maintain their constitutional rights to maintain their religious freedoms that may be under attack by opposing parties.
“The Declaration of Independence that the people are endowed by God gives those unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” Hill says. “When a government becomes destructive of its power, the people have the right either dissolve the government or reform to one that serves the people rights from our Creator.”
Hill believes there is truth to George Washington’s farewell address speech when he said, “Politics will endanger the very fabric of the Constitution.”
Government reforms should be placed in the hands of the people according to the United Sovereignty Alliance, or as Abraham Lincoln said, “the people are the sole owners of Congress and the Courts.”
Although recently the states have made moves to enact a Convention of the States using Article V as its basis, the Convention first needs government approval in passing constitutional amendments. Government reforms will then come under the scrutiny of the federal government as the Seventeenth Amendment grants the federal government sole power over the states.
Hill believes the Seventeenth Amendment is the very first amendment the states should eliminate in order for government reforms and further constitutional amendments to be effective. Otherwise, he says, any action by a Convention of the States will be challenged aggressively through the court system all the way to the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court using the Fourteenth Amendment will within this year decide on overruling state bans on issues such as same sex marriage – an issue Hill says God defined thousands of years ago as a Holy bond only between a man and a woman.
