United Theological Seminary Receives Grant From Lilly Endowment
Dayton, Ohio (PRWEB) December 06, 2013 -- United Theological Seminary (United) has been awarded a $250,000 grant by Lilly Endowment Inc. as part of the Endowment’s Theological School initiative to Address Economic Challenges Facing Future Ministers. The purpose of this initiative is to enable theological schools to examine and strengthen their financial and educational strategies and practices in order to improve the economic well-being of future pastoral leaders.
The funding will help United improve the economic well-being of future ministers with research to help determine the challenges they face; help potential students understand the importance of financing options, career opportunities and budget planning; and improve financial literacy for personal and congregational health.
"This grant will help United take a giant step forward toward the widely-shared goal of decreasing substantially the indebtedness of those called to professional ministry," said Dr. Wendy Deichmann, President of United Theological Seminary. "We hope to enhance the well-being of students and graduates and impact congregations and communities where our graduates serve. We are grateful to Lilly Endowment for this opportunity."
