University of Michigan Expands with iLab Solutions to Further Streamline Resources, Unify System
Boston, MA (PRWEB) June 24, 2015 -- Stemming from a 2012 partnership, additional labs and core facilities at the University of Michigan (U-M) recently selected iLab Solutions’ core facility management system to further manage their shared resource facilities. With the Biomedical Research Core Facilities (BRCF) at U-M already using iLab’s platform, this transition will help to standardize operations across Michigan’s biomedical research facilities. This expansion builds off of a consistency not seen between the Biomedical Research Core Facilities since their creation more than 25 years ago. The contract now incorporates facilities such as Michigan’s Center for Molecular Imaging and its Epigenomics Core, greatly increasing productivity and efficiency.
“Before we began implementing the iLab system, many of our Cores were on different billing and scheduling systems: using phones, still filling out paper forms, faxing things, etc.” explained Cassandra Wong, Director of the Biomedical Research Core Facilities. “Now, thanks to iLab, we have a system able to provide a single source for billing and reporting. The new system has helped with consistent management of the BRCF Cores.”
Michigan’s expansion with iLab’s platform benefits the BRCF core facilities as a whole as well as the individuals involved. iLab’s uniform management system effectively decreases the administrative burden of core managers, leaving more time to devote to the more critical facets of their work. In addition, this partnership offers individual researchers a number of improved benefits, including a unified interface for enhanced collaboration, and the ability to find all institution-supported or partner-supported services in one central location. These tools grant researchers at the BRCF access to the front lines of cutting edge research.
“We are thrilled to support a university with the sophistication and scale of [the University of] Michigan,” said iLab’s CEO, Tad Fallows. “We feel privileged to contribute to the success of their research mission. The greatest compliment to us is when a university chooses to expand its deployment beyond the original scope of work to more facilities across campus.”
With such facilities as Michigan’s Bioinformatics, DNA Sequencing, and Flow Cytometry Cores, the BRCF has long been a key player in the university’s extensive research endeavors. With a unified facility management system, the cores are now able to operate more efficiently and in better unison than ever before, offering endless research possibilities.
iLab has a proven track record of providing enterprise-level solutions to research institutions across the globe. It’s uniform display and search features for all cores across the institution ensure researchers know where to find the resources and services available to them while its streamlined reporting provides increased transparency into core usage, budgeting and forecasting. Nearly 125 leading universities, hospitals, independent institutes, and government labs in 11 countries, including 30 of the top 40 NIH funded research institutions in the United States rely on iLab.
