University of New Haven’s ‘Love Is…A Full Plate’ to Benefit End Hunger Connecticut!
Hartford, Conn. (PRWEB) January 28, 2015 -- End Hunger Connecticut!, a statewide anti-hunger and food security organization with headquarters in Hartford, today announced it has been named the benefactor of the University of New Haven’s (UNH) Hospitality and Tourism program’s February 6th ‘Love Is…A Full Plate’ dinner. The event, which will feature celebrity chef, cookbook author and restaurateur Tanya Holland, is the culminating event for seniors in UNH’s Hospitality and Tourism program.
“We are grateful to the University of New Haven’s Hospitality and Tourism program for their continued support of End Hunger Connecticut!,” Lucy Nolan, Executive Director, End Hunger Connecticut!, said. “We’re very appreciative that the students are using their capstone project to support families gaining access to long-term solutions that consistently put food on the table.”
“Love Is…A Full Plate” will feature a four-course dinner prepared, served and hosted by students in UNH’s Hospitality and Tourism program. The event, which also includes a specialty sugar tasting, will be preceded by a cocktail hour and book signing with Chef Holland.
A Hartford native, Chef Holland is executive chef and owner of Brown Sugar Kitchen and B-Side BBQ in Oakland, Calif. She is also the author of New Soul Cooking: Updating a Cuisine Rich in Flavor and Tradition and Brown Sugar Kitchen: New Style Down-Home Recipes from Sweet West Oakland, the latter of which “Love Is…A Full Plate” attendees will receive a signed copy of. Chef Holland is also known for her role as host and soul food expert on the Melting Pot series on The Food Network and The Cooking Channel, and is regularly featured on The Today Show and The Talk.
Proceeds from the event will support End Hunger Connecticut!’s efforts to end childhood hunger in Connecticut as well as statewide advocacy efforts on behalf of all Connecticut residents struggling with food insecurity.
