University of Pennsylvania’s Lauder Institute Launches New Africa Program
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) August 02, 2015 -- The Lauder Institute, offering an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and a Master’s in International Studies, today announced the launch of a new Africa track focusing on the African continent. The Africa Program join’s Lauder’s five other regional concentrations – East and South East Asia, Europe, Americas, South Asia, and the Middle East and North Africa – in addition to the Institute’s Global Program which emphasizes the role of international actors and actions across national borders and world regions.
Ronald Lauder, Co-founder of the Lauder Institute and Chairman of its Board of Governors, said, “The African continent is an important frontier for global business. Focusing on this region perfectly aligns with our mission, which is to prepare the next generation of global leaders.”
“This program, concentrating exclusively on the unique economic, social, health and environmental conditions in Africa, is incredibly timely,” says Mauro Guillén, Director of the Lauder Institute. “By 2050, Africa is likely to have 25 percent of the world’s population and by the end of the century it is likely to have 35 percent of the world’s population. We’re delighted to offer our students the opportunity to make a difference there.”
The new Africa program is accepting applications for the May 2016 entering class. Applicants to the Africa Program will have a working knowledge of Swahili, French, Portuguese, Spanish, German or other languages spoken in West, East and Southern Africa.
The Lauder Institute is able to launch the Africa Program thanks in part to a generous gift from Lauder Institute graduates Bill Belleville and Melissa Merten Belleville.
