Updox Receives Renewal of Complete DirectTrust.org/EHNAC Accreditations for Direct Secure Messaging
Dublin, Ohio (PRWEB) October 25, 2016 -- Updox, the industry leader for care coordination and healthcare customer relationship management (CRM) solutions, announced the renewal of its full accreditation with the Direct Trusted Agent Accreditation Program (DTAAP) as a Health Information Service Provider/Registration Authority/Certificate Authority (HISP/RA/CA) from DirectTrust.org and the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC). Accreditation by EHNAC certifies that an organization’s Direct secure messaging services meet HIPAA and HITECH requirements, industry standards, and Direct Project regulations.
Updox is the Health Information Service Provider (HISP) of choice for more than 70 electronic health record (EHR) partners and has issued more than 100,000 Direct email addresses. Users (whose identity has been verified) can access the Direct network to securely exchange personal health information (PHI), expand referral networks and collaborate with care teams for care coordination and improved outcomes. Customers can easily and securely exchange Direct messages with anyone else who is also EHNAC certified. Securely exchange of health information is an essential component of care coordination, which improves the speed, safety, quality, and cost of patient care.
“We’re committed to giving our customers the highest level of quality, compliance, and industry compatibility. Accreditations such as these validate that commitment,” says Michael Morgan, chief executive officer, Updox. “We’re continuing to add physicians to our Direct Network at a great pace. Now, in order to really bring about care coordination and interoperability, we’re enabling Direct messaging users in other key areas of healthcare such as pharmacy and post-acute care.”
EHNAC is the premier accreditation authority promoting standards that support interoperability, stakeholder trust, regulatory compliance, quality service, innovation, and open competition within healthcare. EHNAC evaluated Updox business, privacy, security, and confidentiality practices, as well as its technical performance and Direct exchange resources. By earning this meaningful third-party accreditation, Updox demonstrates to customers it provides the highest level of quality, compliance, industry compatibility and enhanced partner relationships.
EHNAC is a self-governing standards development organization (SDO) that certifies entities involved in the electronic exchange of healthcare-related data, including HIEs, e-prescribers, and medical billers. The accreditation process includes an application, a self-assessment and a site visit to the organization’s home office and data centers.
“In order to earn EHNAC accreditation, organizations must demonstrate excellence and a commitment to ensuring the security and privacy of health data processing and transactions for their customers,” says Lee Barrett, executive director, EHNAC. “We applaud Updox’s efforts to offer their customers the highest standards of privacy, security and confidentiality and upholding this superior level of trust for their stakeholders.”
