Upset Saturday Brings Changes; Tickets Available at Ticketmonster.com
(PRWEB) October 30, 2013 -- “Upset Saturday” was one of the biggest in 2013 in college football on October 19th. As the weeks go on, and the upsets occur, more and more changes to bowl predictions are made. The entire top ranked 25 is different. New teams stand in the top 10, and previous top 25 teams are now out of the rankings in a shocking manner. The following list is the updated BCS standings of the top 10 teams. The number next to the right of the team symbolizes the team’s last week AP ranking:
1. Alabama (1)
2. Florida State (5)
3. Oregon (2)
4. Ohio State (4)
5. Missouri (14)
6. Stanford (13)
7. Miami (FL)
8. Baylor (12)
9. Clemson (3)
10.Texas Tech (16)
From this list, one can see the dramatic changes in this week, arguably the most dramatic of all year. Multiple teams have dropped out of the top 10, and new, unexpected teams have replaced them. Saturday’s major upset list includes losses to LSU, Clemson, Texas A&M, UCLA, Georgia, and South Carolina.
In one of the biggest games in ACC history, the game did not unfortunately live up to the hype. The Florida State Seminoles easily rolled over the Clemson Tigers in a 51-14 win. The upset moved FSU into the number two spot, pushing Oregon out of the way. As of right now, the BCS Champions game will be played against FSU and Alabama, instead of Oregon and Alabama. However, there are still weeks to come, and still big games to be played. Who will finally end the season in the top two spots? Another shocking upset was that of Texas A&M and Heisman front-runner Johnny Manziel. Manziel was last year’s Heisman winner, and as a freshman. So far this year he was one or two in the polls, fighting for the top spot with Oregon’s Marcus Mariota. On Saturday, although Manziel still had a great game, it was not good enough. The Aggies lost to Auburn in a stunning 45-41 shootout. The loss was the Aggies' second of the season, which not only dropped the team in the rankings, but played a big role in the Heisman voting.
LSU lost to unranked Ole Miss on Saturday, adding to the jaw dropping heartbreaks and upsets. This loss was LSU’s second of the season, with the first coming to Georgia, who is now unranked, which does not help the Tigers. With the loss, the team dropped all the way down to the number 13 spot, when they were previously number 6. The SEC is in shambles this year, with losses everywhere. The only consistent team, as usual, is Alabama.
NCAA college football is one of the most exciting in college athletics. According to the BCS poll, it matters not only who teams lose to, but when you lose and by how much. Many factors go into the rankings, and they chance every week. This past Saturday was the most exciting of the year so far, and it brought many changes to the rankings, bowl predictions, and Heisman candidate race.
